Adopt-A-Family for the 2021 Holidays!

This is the eighth year for the Adopt-A-Family fundraising program. Past donations have purchased holiday gifts for children, helped families with food insecurities, and even paid bills that turn on utilities over the cold holiday months. All money raised in this fundraiser went directly to help local families in need. Your donations were used to sponsor 5 families for the holidays. Thank you for helping us help others!

Family #1 consisted of a single mother with kids ages 4 to 13. From the mother to everyone who donated and shared the fundraiser: “I really appreciate the help, I wasn’t sure how I was going to pull Christmas off for my four kids. I had been having so much trouble getting into the holiday spirit. So much has dimmed the magic of Christmas. From being newly separated and years of emotional abuse, scratching my way to the top and working and having a child who is struggling with his mental health and mine not always being the best. I just can’t thank you guys enough for giving me the peace of mind and happy kiddos on Christmas morning. Again thank you!”

Family #2 was taking a trip to Riley Children's Hospital during the week of Christmas. They bought a few presents for all their kids for Christmas as well as much needed medicine and supplies for their trip to Riley.

Family #3 is a close-knit family that spans generations. A single mom of 7 kids and 4 grand-babies lives with and cares for her elderly mother. Sadly, her dad passed in April of 2020 from Covid-19. She works 10 hour shifts to support her family and was faced with putting food on the table or presents under their tree.

Family #4 welcomed a new baby this year! Adjusting to one income is a huge challenge for new families. We were able to help them pay utilities, buy a few gifts, and get some much needed items for their newly rented home.

Family #5 is currently struggling to find housing after being evicted from their home of 8 years for complaining about the lack of upkeep and worsening conditions of their living space. The family’s situation meant that a prepaid credit card was better suited to meet their needs while living in their vehicle and staying in a hotel room. The card can pay for Christmas gifts, food, and gas for their car.

Thank you to everyone who donated and shared our 2021 Adopt-A-Family fundraiser. You've made a huge difference in this time of great need for these families. Happy holidays no matter how you celebrate.

*Belief or lack thereof is never a factor when helping families for the holidays.
