Hello and welcome to the Northern Indiana Atheists July newsletter. First, let us review everything that happened back June. June was a nationwide Pride month in remembrance of the Stonewall uprising that lead to a massive liberation movement and the continuous fight for LGBTQ+ rights. NIA had its first tabling event ever, last year, at the South Bend pride festival, just months after becoming an officially recognized not-for-profit by the IRS. It was an incredible experience for all of us to stand side by side with other organizations in support of equality. This year, we had the honor of joining a few other affiliates of American Atheists at Indy pride in Indianapolis along with Whitewater Atheists, Kokomo Freethinkers, and Crossroads Atheists. We also had the opportunity to bump elbows with the folks from the Satanic Temple. We met so many wonderful atheist activists and atheist allies at this event and made some lasting relationships. From there, we went on to celebrate pride at the South Bend and Michigan City pride events. In July we will be attending Fort Wayne and Goshen Pride events.
NIA supported and attended the rally for reproductive rights and no hate in Goshen.
On the second of June we joined the Humanists in Three Rivers Michigan for a screening of Hail Satan?. The film, Hail Satan?, chronicles the life and events of the religious organization known as the Satanic Temple. The film is set to be released in digital format on July 23rd.

love so loud, you couldn’t hear the hate
How do you challenge a street preacher spewing hateful rhetoric during Indy Pride? Drown out the hate with love. Jama Sullivan of Whitewater Freethought used our sign not only to cover the preacher’s face, but she also gave out hugs to the long line of people waiting to get into pride. NIA continued this campaign of free hugs from an atheist with a gay agenda at South Bend’s pride event as well.
Come to Roger’s Park in Goshen on Saturday, June 29th at 2:00 pm for the No Place for Hate Rally. Come and join us in celebrating love, and declaring Goshen ‘No place for Hate'. Noah Bush, Host of There is No Godcast, will be a guest speaker at this event.
